Water Flow Rate – Los Angeles Plumbers Help You To Determine This

There are many older sections of Los Angeles, so if you are evaluating your older faucets or shower heads to see what your GPM (gallons per minute) rate is, here is a way to quickly determine it. You may not realize that the Federal Energy Policy Act of 1992 required all faucet and shower fixtures made in the United States to have a flow rate of no more than 2.2 GPM at 60 PSI. If your fixture is more than 2.2 GPM, it is probably time to replace it with a new one that will be code compliant for water efficiency.

Here is how you can quickly determine the flow rate for a specific faucet or shower head in your home:

1) turn the fixture on to its normal position

2) place a container under the fixture and collect the water for about 10 seconds

3) measure the quantity of water in the container and then convert it to gallons

4) multiply the measured quantity of water by 6 to calculate the flow rate in gallons per minute – example – if you have a half gallon of water flowing it would be .5 x 6 = 3 GPM

Finding The Leak In Your Plumbing System

Leaky pipes in your residential or commercial property must be repaired immediately. While you are waiting for the plumbers at Schuelke Plumbing to arrive, there are a few things you can do to reduce the risk of further damage from the water.

If you can hear the sound of the water, follow it to its source. If there is already a water stain, it may mean there is a leak in a section of the pipe. The wall stain is likely to be below the actual location of the leak, so we will probably need to remove part of the wall in order to find it.

Turn off the water immediately, either at the fixture shutoff valve or the main shutoff valve if the leak is a major one. This will keep your home or office from being flooded. Remember that it is always best to call in a professional plumber, rather than attempting to do it yourself and causing additional damage. We are here to serve all of

Trenchless Sewer Replacement and Repair

If your Los Angeles area home is in need of a new sewer system, this may be the right time of year to get the work completed. Unlike most of the country, with freezing temperatures and several more months of unpredictable weather, here in the greater Los Angeles area plumbers are able to work outdoors throughout the year.

Schuelke Plumbing will come and take a look at your home or commercial building to see if you are in need of any type of plumbing repair or need more information about trenchless sewer repair. Many times there is a blockage, caused by grease buildup or a foreign object that is restricting the flow of your sewer line. Other times the culprit is corrosion that causes deterioration, resulting in collapses in the line that restrict flow.

Other reasons for your sewer lines to not be operating at their maximum level are leaking joints, root infiltration, or off-grade pipes. Our plumbers here at Schuelke will

Your Los Angeles Home’s Plumbing System and How It Works

What do you know about your plumbing system? Knowing about how this system works in your home can help you to understand how to best take care of it over time. The plumbing system in your home is composed of two separate subsystems. One of these subsystem brings freshwater in, and the other takes wastewater out. The water that comes into your home is under pressure. It enters your home under enough pressure to allow it to travel anywhere in the house -up the stairs, around corners, or wherever else it’s needed. As water comes into your home, it passes through a meter that registers the amount you use. The main water shutoff, or stop, valve is typically located close to the meter. In a plumbing emergency, such as an earthquake, it is of vital importance that you quickly close the main shutoff valve. Otherwise, when a pipe bursts, it can flood your house in no time. If the emergency is confined to a sink, tub, or toilet, however, you may not want to turn off your entire water supply. Therefore, most fixtures should have individual stop valves. Water from the main supply is immediately ready for your cold water needs. The

Leaky Pipes? Do-It-Yourself Plumbing Is Not The Answer

When your home or office has a leaky pipe, you may be tempted to repair it yourself. This will generally lead to much bigger problems, and you will still need to call in your plumber. Los Angeles is again going through a drought, so you will want to do a few things while waiting for the plumbing company to arrive to fix the problem completely. Whether you live in Sherman Oaks or Woodland Hills, when one of your water pipes springs a leak, it can get out of control very quickly. This is what you can do while the plumbers at Schuelke Plumbing are on their way.

First, turn off the water at the main valve. Then, open the faucets on the water line. This will relieve the pressure right away. Now you must drain the water from the pipe by opening the faucets or bleed vavles that are located below the leak.

Now wrap a piece of rubber around the leaking joint and apply a stainless-steel hose clamp. Tighten the clamp with a screwdriver or socket wrench. If you don’t have a hose clamp, use another type, such as a C-clamp, to secure the rubber over the leak.

Finally, soak water-activated fiberglass-resin tape (sold in a repair kit that is meant just this purpose) in water, wrap it around the leak and

Plumbing System Cracks Need An Immediate Inspection

Cracks sometimes occur in plumbing systems and drains. This can lead to an unpleasant odor, requiring you to contact your plumbing company for their odor detection service. Sherman Oaks plumbing company Schuelke Plumbing, serving Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, and Santa Clarita, can send their plumbers and plumbing technicians to your home or commercial building to do a complete inspection.

Because the source of a leak can be difficult to pinpoint, we will use an odor detection system to isolate the leak. Odor detection usually will consist of sending smoke through your plumbing system. This smoke will be emitted from the leak, allowing the plumbers to identify the place of emission.
