Root Intrusion – Plumbers Can Be The Solution To This Problem

The intrusion of roots into waste pipes can be a challenge. With older sewer systems, you are much more likely to suffer damage from root intrusion. The growth of root mass inside sewer lines will block the discharge of wastewater, resulting in backup into your home or building. Schuelke Plumbing is available to serve you when this happens at your property.

The damage caused by the backup can be costly to repair and troublesome to deal with. Root growth can also cause deterioration of the pipes and pipe joints, as well as underground pipe structures and pipe connections to the main sewer line. It is best to have an effective root control program in place.

Root growth is determined first by gravity and secondly by water. The root hairs, which are fine, hair-like projections found on the surface of the roots, will find their way into drain lines and sewer pipes. They enter through small cracks or openings in the pipe or pipe joint. Once inside they will continue to grow, finally forming

Copper Repiping – Replace Galvanized Pipes With Copper

If you have an older home or commercial building, you will want to consider having the galvanized pipes repiped with copper. Repiping will remove or bypass your existing system. Galvanized pipes rust as they age. If you are getting rusty colored water when you turn on your faucets, copper repipe may be in your future plumbing maintenance plans.

The plumbers and technicians at Schuelke Plumbing can use their video camera technology to sow you what it looks like deep inside your sewer lines. With this system we are able to show you immediately if you have a clog or other problem that needs to be addressed.

Rust builds up inside of the pipes, restricting the flow of water and causing the added build-up of gunk and slime throughout your plumbing system. Clogged pipes reduce the volume of water that can get through to the fixtures. Copper pipes last for decades and give you the water flow needed in your home or other building. Call Schuelke Plumbing for all of your questions and to set up an appointment for copper repiping.

Root Intrusion – North Hollywood Plumbers Have The Solution

Root intrusion is blamed on more than 50% of all sewer blockages and cracked pipes. Once trees are more than several years old they are extremely difficult to remove and you must repair or replace your damaged sewer lines. So think twice about what types of trees you plant and make sure to eliminate ficus and magnolia trees from your landscaping list.

When the roots intrude into the sewer pipe area they begin to seep through the joints, resulting in cracked or ruptured sewer lines. The direction of the roots is determined by both gravity and the water source. The root hairs will seek out water and find their way into drain lines and sewer pipes, entering through small cracks or openings in the pipe or in the pipe joint.

A sign of possible root intrusion is a sudden

West Hills Drain Cleaning – Plumbers Fix Clogged Drains Quickly

Clogged drains must be repaired. It may seem like your kitchen and bathroom drains get clogged on a regular basis. The plumbers at Schuelke Plumbing offer a complete variety of services and will repair your clogged drains at your home or office, but recommend some green ways to keep your drains open, without using powerful industrial chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. These products may contain lye or acid, and can be dangerous to the wastewater system, your PVC pipes, as well as your health.

You may want to use a more natural approach to keep your drains from getting clogged. Some health food stores carry bacteria based enzyme cleaners. Pouring a cup of baking soda down your drain, followed by about 3 cups of boiling water may also work, as long as water has not yet backed up in your drain. The chemical composition of the baking soda is changed by the boiling water, making it more alkaline.

If these methods do not work, you will need to

Broken Sewer Lines – Repair Sewers and Drain Lines

Your home’s sewer and drain lines have probably been there since your home was built. With the average age of a home in the greater Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley area currently at 43 years old, it is just a matter of time before your sewer line breaks.

Property owners are responsible for breaks between the house and the curb, including the sidewalk and

Faucets and Shower Heads – Valley Village Plumbers Determine Your Flow Rate

Valley Village is an older section of Los Angeles, so if you are evaluating your older faucets or shower heads to see what your GPM (gallons per minute) rate is, here is a way to quickly determine it. You may not realize that the Federal Energy Policy Act of 1992 required all faucet and shower fixtures made in the United States to have a flow rate of no more than 2.2 GPM at 60 PSI. If your fixture is more than 2.2 GPM, it is probably time to replace it with a new one that will be code compliant for water efficiency.

Here is how you can quickly determine the flow rate for a specific faucet or shower head in your home:

1) turn the fixture on to its normal position

2) place a container under the fixture and collect the water for about 10 seconds

3) measure the quantity of water in the container and then convert it to gallons

4) multiply the measured quantity of water by 6 to calculate the flow rate in gallons per minute – example – if you have a half gallon of water flowing it would be .5 x 6 = 3 GPM

Call the plumbers at Schuelke Plumbing if you have any questions or need assistance with this in your home or office, whether you are
